The Lytham Farmers’ Ball Committee held it centenary ball at the Grand Hotel in St Annes on the Fylde Coast. Back in 1911, a group of Lytham Farmers got together to actively sell their produce to the flourishing Blackpool markets. To celebrate the success of the first year’s marketing drive, they decided to hold a ball, which subsequently became an annual event. From modest beginnings, the ball has evolved to the popular event it is today. Today, the annual celebration is still a formal black-tie occasion, with a six-course dinner, including, of course, the best local produce.
